It is a 2hr drive from Johannesburg and only 45 minutes from the popular little village Clarens.
The Free State has interesting little towns and villages rich with historical value.
It offers an outdoor lifestyle with sunshine practically all year round. In addition it has expansive rolling hills and wide open golden plains.
The Eastern Free State has a number of annual festivals. One is the Bielie Mielie festival in Frebruary, a festival celebrating mealies. In addition there are the Cherry & Asparagus Festivals in Ficksburg and the Wheat festival in Bethlehem.
