Area Information
Etosha National Park is well-known for the best game viewing experience in Namibia! The animal kingdom of Etosha is home to 114 species of animals including 4 of the Big 5 namely lions, leopards, the endangered rhino species and a strong population of elephants. During the dry seasons most animals depend on on the water sources they receive for the many waterholes spread throughout the Park, thus attracting loads of antelopes and larger mammals. Here one can even spot elephants, giraffes, ostriches, zebras and other antelopes drinking from the same waterhole with a lion waiting in anticipation for his chance to catch his meal of the day. From the antelope species the most common to be found are the impala, kudu, oryx, eland, hartebeest, large herds of springbok and the petite dik-dik. Other smaller species include jackal, warthogs, mongoose, bat eared foxes and meerkats.
